AI calling agent pricing

How Much Does an AI Calling Agent Cost?

Two pricing models cover most of the market — per-minute usage and per-seat subscriptions. Here's how each works, what actually drives the total, and exactly what WellCheck charges.

    The two pricing models

Most AI calling agents price one of two ways. Per-minute (or per-call) pricing charges for the time actually spent on the phone — you pay for what gets used, and an idle month costs nothing. Per-seat or subscription pricing charges a flat monthly fee regardless of call volume, usually with an included-minutes allowance and overage charges past it. Neither is universally better — it depends on how steady your call volume is.

    What drives the price

Within either model, the real cost is set by three things: how many calls you're making, how long each one runs on average, and which add-ons you turn on. A campaign that's mostly quick voicemail drops costs very differently than one full of five-minute conversations.

    • Call volume — how many contacts you're calling
    • Average call length — voicemail is a few seconds, a full conversation is minutes
    • Add-ons — compliance features, a dedicated number, and similar extras layer on top of the base rate

    What WellCheck charges

WellCheck is per-minute, not per-seat: $0.49 for every minute of live talk time, with no subscription, no minimums, and no platform fee. The full platform — campaign builder, transcripts, voicemail detection, reporting — is free to use; you only pay once a call connects and someone is actually talking. Two optional add-ons sit on top at a flat monthly rate: the Compliance Add-On ($49/mo, 14-day free trial) and a Dedicated Number ($20/mo). Neither changes the $0.49/min rate — they add capability, not a per-minute markup.

    A worked example

Say a campaign calls 500 contacts and averages 90 seconds of live talk time per connected call, with about 60% actually connecting — the rest go to voicemail or don't answer, and a voicemail drop runs a few seconds, not the full 90. That's roughly 300 connected calls × 1.5 minutes × $0.49/min, or about $220 for the batch, plus a few dollars for the voicemail attempts. There's no minimum spend and nothing charged for the contacts who never pick up beyond the few seconds it takes to detect voicemail.

    Common questions

    Is there a free trial?

The platform itself has no trial clock or feature gate — it's free to use, and you only pay for live talk time. The Compliance Add-On specifically has its own 14-day free trial.

What counts as a "live minute"?

Time spent actually connected and talking. A call that goes to voicemail is billed for the few seconds it takes to detect the voicemail and leave the message, not for the full attempt.

    Are there setup fees?

No. There's no platform fee, no minimum spend, and no per-seat charge — you buy credits and WellCheck makes the calls.

Does the rate change with volume?

No — $0.49/min is the rate for everyone, regardless of how many calls you run. Add-ons expand what your account can do; they don't change what a minute costs.
